Is there anyone in this forum who can tell me if they have had any experience in their ammonia plants using Chinese technology catalysts in all areas of the front end and in Ammonia Synthesis?
Unicat (Alvin, TX)offer Chinese catalysts that, in my opinion, ar very good and the equal of the major suppliers/ My experience is in all front end catalysts and all perform very well however the J-M pre-reformer catalyst seems to perform better than all others. For synthesis, Clariant offer the Chinese Ammomax catalyst which is Wustite based and by my experience, very good with good activity and easier reduction. The subject plant is a nominal 1500 te/d plant operating at 2100+ te/d so, I think, provides a good reference and have used them in all services (primary/secondary reformer, desulfurization, both shift converters and methanatorin the front end, also pre-reformer but the performance was not the equal of J-M’s-which has a much higher price.
