We have a plant that still has carbon steel on the outlet piping of the 105-C Reboilers and are seeing corrosion issues on the outlet piping. specifically at the elbows and welds. The Piperazine strength had been increased in the last couple of years to help with CO2 slip. It is still well within spec 4-4.5% total. MDEA is 35-36%. Total strength is kept in the 40-42% range.
Wondering if everyone has just replaced piping with 304SS or found the root cause of the corrosion and stayed with carbon steel?

Yes we have replaced the line with CS only. But the reason was Erosion due to liquid entrainment in the vapour and the vapor velocity was found to be high.
